Interlaced
sessions at the BITlab, our temporary new home in Science and Engineering.
On Wednesday, March 28, we progressed with the software design for the
new sensor, and Paul Verity Smith worked with David Plans on the PD
patch for the wireless interface transmission. New principles of "video
editing control in real time" were delineated by Paul.
On Thursday, March 29, Fred Weimer gathered our motion-capture research
unit, and a firm time plan was set for the Capture project in April-May.
Maria Wiener will be heading our animation development team, and we
will recruit further volunteers. We also shall cast a male dancer/performer.
Fred showed us a 3D animation he had created based on Katsura-capture
data from December. We watched it on the new 3D Film Screen.
In the evening, we rehearsed the "spirit" & bird catcher
sections from Suna no Onna with Helenna Ren, trying on the new sensors
(taped to skin-body).

On
Friday, March 30, we were in the Bitlab all day from 11 am to 21:oo
pm. At 13:oo we had a first successful telematic performance between
Helenna and Rumiko in Tokyo (our ADaPT partners), a 20 minute performance
in which our Japanese partners enacted an insect-like hand motion in
sand while Ling performed daily activities and bird catching.
Friday
evening Sonia Wang joined us and brought many of her design/scenography
ideas and proposals for textures, and also materials for screens and
enviroments, and interactive plans for the use of transformational design.
Her ideas were very inspiring. Following this, Helnna performed the
first very successful direct interaction with a film that we created
of the previous night (bird catching scene, in the sand). Helenna also
contributed desert images, and Paul's hard work, with David, on the
sensor software finally showed excellent results. Paul addressed the
options we now have, incorporating the sensors into Michèle's
garments. The SensorDress will be built in April-May in 4 variations
(for two dancers), and a male dress will also be created. For images
